Where should I start in PriceScout?
You can start anywhere — PriceScout is designed to be flexible. Most users begin by searching for a product they want to buy. Simply type the product name in the search bar and explore the results.
How does product search work?
When you search for a product, PriceScout returns all related results across available stores. Click on a product to explore pricing, compare deals, and view promotional advertisements related to that item.
What is a List and how do I use it?
Lists help you plan your shopping. You can create a custom list or use the default list if you add products without creating one. Once your list is ready, you can explore stores using that list to see the total cost of all items combined. If a product is unavailable in a store, the system will clearly notify you.
Can I search for stores instead of products?
Yes. You can search for stores directly and explore their available products and pricing. PriceScout is built to support a growing number of stores.
Why should I subscribe?
Subscribing unlocks full price visibility and helps support the community. Contributors who submit accurate prices benefit from the system, encouraging honesty and consistent updates.
Account & Permissions
How do I become a Contributor or Administrator?
New users are assigned the User role by default. To upgrade to Contributor or Administrator, contact the store owner or your system admin. Approval triggers an instant system notification.
What permissions does a Contributor have?
Contributors are the backbone of store data. They can add, edit, and delete products, view inventory reports, and receive update alerts. Note: They cannot modify store-wide settings or manage other users.
Earnings & Payouts
What is the point-to-cash conversion rate?
Our system rewards active participation. 1000 points = R200.00. You earn points by adding products (10 pts), updating prices (5 pts), and referring friends (50 pts).
How do I request a withdrawal?
Navigate to Points → Withdraw. Ensure your bank details are correct. Once submitted, payouts are vetted and processed within 48 business hours.
Store Management
What happens when a store gets an official owner?
The store transitions to "Verified" status. All existing contributors are notified. The owner gains final approval over all pricing changes, ensuring data integrity across the platform.
